MEConsult LLP was commissioned as Renewable Energy Consultants for Thatta Cement’s 4.5 MW captive wind project located in New Thatta, Sindh, approximately 100 km from Karachi. The project is already commissioned at a highly competitive tariff of PKR 10/kWh. Building on this success, Thatta Cement once again engaged MEConsult LLP for their upcoming 7.5 MW captive wind expansion. For both projects, MEConsult was also entrusted to serve as Owner’s Engineer, ensuring EPC contractor selection, contract finalization, installation supervision, and long-term O&M agreements with international OEMs.
MEConsult LLP is providing consultancy and Owner’s Engineer services for Al Karam Textile Mills in Dhabeji, Sindh, located just 50 km from Karachi. This landmark 37.5 MW wind + 21 MW solar + 50 MWh BESS hybrid renewable project is being developed on a B2B (Business-to-Business) captive power model with a third-party developer. The tariff is set between PKR 12–14/kWh, offering major cost savings compared to grid electricity costs above PKR 45/kWh.
In simple terms: Al Karam is buying clean, affordable electricity directly from a renewable project near Karachi — shielding their operations from grid tariff hikes and enhancing export competitiveness.
